Memorial Satilla Health and South Georgia State College have introduced a new Simulation Lab, marking a significant step forward in the education of nursing students.
On August 20, a ribbon-cutting event was held at 2001 S. Georgia Parkway in Waycross, GA, at 10:30 a.m. to officially open the facility, which is expected to greatly impact healthcare education in the region.
The Simulation Lab is designed to provide nursing students with hands-on training in an environment that mirrors real clinical settings. During the grand opening, attendees were invited to explore the facility and listen to speeches from key leaders of the hospital and college.
Memorial Satilla Health played a crucial role in the development of this lab, contributing $100,000 to the project. This effort is part of HCA Healthcare’s larger mission to invest in the future of nursing by providing essential resources for education and professional growth. Memorial Satilla is a part of HCA Healthcare, a network that includes over 99,000 nurses.
“We are excited to be a part of this new educational space for students. By supporting the construction of this advanced training facility, we are not only investing in the future of our nursing workforce but also ensuring our patients receive the highest quality of care,” said Dale Neely, CEO of Memorial Satilla.
This lab is the second of its kind to open in the region in recent years, following the establishment of the HCA Healthcare Center for Clinical Advancement at the University of North Florida in Jacksonville in 2022.
Featuring cutting-edge technology, including AI-enabled manikins and sophisticated medical equipment, the lab allows nursing students to practice their skills in a safe, controlled environment. The realistic scenarios they encounter here are designed to prepare them for real-world clinical challenges.
“This lab is a game-changer for our future nurses,” said Celeste Brizzee, CNO at Memorial Satilla. “Students will benefit from the opportunity to engage in realistic clinical simulations that enhance their critical thinking, decision-making, and procedural skills.”
