Georgia Rivers is inviting educators from Georgia, Tennessee, and Alabama to apply for the Paddle Georgia 2025 Educator’s Scholarship, offering a unique opportunity to explore the Tennessee River while gaining hands-on environmental education experience. From June 16 to June 22, 2025, selected teachers will paddle 82 miles through the Tennessee River basin, receive training in water monitoring, and earn Georgia Adopt-A-Stream certification.

This immersive experience is designed to equip educators with real-world knowledge they can bring back to the classroom. "We want to empower teachers with the tools to inspire their students," says Joe Cook, Paddle Georgia Coordinator. “Past participants have used this experience to develop engaging lesson plans and create lasting environmental programs at their schools.”

Up to eight educators from Georgia will receive scholarships valued at $460 to cover the cost of the event. The trip will include daily paddling, camping, and access to various environmental education programs. Interested teachers can apply by March 30, 2025, at www.garivers.org/paddle-georgia. Scholarship winners will be announced in April.
