The Georgia Public Service Commission (PSC) has approved a plan to keep Georgia Power’s base electric rates stable through at least the end of 2028, ensuring more predictable energy costs for both residents and businesses. This decision supports continued economic growth across Georgia, including right here in Ware County, where affordable and reliable power is essential to attracting new industry and supporting our local workforce.
The approved plan stems from an agreement between Georgia Power and the PSC’s Public Interest Advocacy Staff and extends the current rate plan first approved in 2022. It separates storm recovery costs into a future proceeding, allowing communities like ours to plan around steady rates while infrastructure resiliency efforts continue.
As Georgia experiences rapid economic expansion and increased electricity demand, this stability in energy pricing helps maintain a competitive edge for regions like Ware County. Georgia Power has collaborated with state leaders and local stakeholders to ensure our power grid remains strong, flexible, and prepared for long-term growth—benefiting all 2.8 million customers, including those fueling development in Southeast Georgia.
A separate PSC proceeding regarding storm-related recovery costs is expected in 2026.
